How Kansas Honor Banners Began

Kansas Honor Banners is a collaboration of these Wichita-based veterans organizations:

  • Veterans Unidos, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was created to improve economic self-sufficiency for all veterans and their communities by developing business, housing, and social opportunities, and promoting education and security while valuing Kansas diversity and heritage.
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 112, which was chartered in 1920 by 33 World War I veterans and has now served the Wichita community for 100 years. In the past century, VFW Post 112 been writing a story of service and sacrifice in the South-Central Kansas area. In every page and chapter of this story, there was a man or woman who made an important contribution or sacrifice during their military service. In times of tragedy, triumph and troop support, VFW Post 112 has stepped up and proudly served, helped others, and left a mark that will not be forgotten. This legacy is what they celebrate and will commemorate in the year 2020 and beyond.
